About Applidex

An independent reference for appliances: what each model is, what it can do, where its manual is and what its error codes mean, with the source shown beside every fact.

What Applidex does

Appliance information is scattered: the specification is on a retailer's page, the manual is a PDF three clicks into a support site, the meaning of the code flashing on the display is in a forum thread from 2014. Applidex puts the manufacturer's own facts about each model on one page, by model number, and links to the official document for everything else.

Every model page carries the published specifications, the official manuals, the error codes the manufacturer documents for it and the problems it describes. Every error code has its own page saying what it means on that brand and appliance type, because the same code means different things on different machines.

Where the data comes from

Only from manufacturers: their UK product pages, their user and installation manuals, and their support pages, collected with their published rules on automated access respected. We store each fact separately with the address it was read from, the date, and a confidence score for the extraction. Facts that conflict between two documents are held back until a person has looked at them. The full method, including what the status labels mean, is on the how we source data page.

What we do not do

  • We do not write our own explanations of faults or repairs. Where a manufacturer has not documented something, the page says so.
  • We do not host manuals, photographs or any manufacturer material. Links go to the manufacturer.
  • We do not show prices or sell anything. Some "find parts" links are affiliate links and are marked as such.

Who runs it

Applidex is an independent site, edited from the UK. It is not connected to, endorsed by or affiliated with any appliance manufacturer, retailer or repair company. Brand and product names are the trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the appliances they refer to.

Corrections

If something is wrong, report it with the page and, if you can, where the right answer comes from. We check every report and update the page when the facts are confirmed.
